European Funds for railway: train station in Skierniewice after modernisation
Polskie Koleje Państwowe has completed the renovation of the train station in Skierniewice. The investment has received support from the European Funds via CEUTP. The renovated building is comfortable and meets all current passenger service standards, including when it comes to people with special needs.

The total cost of renovation of the railway station in Skierniewice amounted to PLN 45 million gross. PKP has implemented the investment with the support from the European Funds:
- preparation of design documentation was co-financed from the Operational Programme – Infrastructure and Environment for 2014–2020,
- construction works were realised from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS 2021–2027) programme.
– The concluded investment is a perfect example of a fusion between past and modernity. Thanks to the renovation, which preserved the original architectural elements of the building, it was possible to restore the station in Skierniewice to its former glory. At the same time, the station has become a comfortable space for passengers, adapted to the currently applicable standards, – emphasised Alan Beroud, CEO of PKP S.A.
The modernisation works included, e.g.:
- replacement of the roof covering, window and door joinery, while the façade of the building regained its former charm,
- additional access points were opened, e.g., from the eastern side, where a pedestrian overpass was installed, connecting the station building with the “Widok” housing estate; two historical access points from the northern and souther sides were also restored. Moreover, a new access point from the southern side was introduced.
- the station’s interior is comfortable and modern, including – among other things – a new hall, waiting room, and toilets, which are also adapted to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Furthermore, a socrealistic sgraffito was restored,
- adaptation of the building to the needs of people with disabilities – instead of former architectural barriers, new amenities appeared, such as: tactile paving, markings and information available in Braille, as well as typhlographic plans of the station,
- installation of modern safety and building management systems.
Railway station in Skierniewice is located near the railway line no. 1, along the Warszawa – Katowice route. The station handles both agglomeration and regional transport, as well as long-distance trains, e.g., to Gdynia, Wrocław, Olsztyn, Białystok, Szklarska Poręba and Zgorzelec. It also serves regional trains to Warsaw, Kutno and Łódź. According to the Office of Rail Transport, 182 trains and as much as 12,800 passengers passed through the station daily in 2024.

On June 19, 2026, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy in Warsaw will host an expert workshop entitled. “Cooperation between the public and private sectors in dual-use projects and building resilience in the railroad system.” The event is organised jointly with the ministry and the ProKolej Foundation.

Update of the regulations for the call for projects for the Intermodal Transport competition under the FEnIKS program
A change has been introduced in the Project Selection Regulations for FENX.05.06-IP.02-001/24 (competitive call for Priority FENX.05 Support for the Transport Sector from the ERDF, Measure FENX.05.06 Intermodal Transport) to remove information on the division of allocations between individual regions (i.e. more developed, transitional, less developed). Częstochowa Central Railway Station with EU funding. CEUTP has signed an agreement with PKP S.A.
The Center for EU Transport Projects has signed an agreement to subsidize the reconstruction of the Częstochowa Główna railway station. The investment will receive nearly PLN 100 million from European Funds.
