Trains are coming back to the Giżycko – Korsze route: modernisation of line no. 38 with the support from the European Funds is almost complete
In December, trains will be coming back to the Giżycko – Korsze route. As a result of the investment of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., co-financed from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS), residents and tourists will enjoy faster, safer and more eco-friendly travels.
What’s going to change?
- Electrification and modernisation of the Ełk – Giżycko – Korsze section,
- Passenger trains reaching speeds up to 160 km/h,
- Travel time on the Ełk – Olsztyn route shorter by approx. 50 minutes,
- New platforms, viaducts and overpasses,
- Increased safety on railway crossings.
Why is that important?
The aim of the project is to increase railway accessibility within the region, improve punctuality and comfort of travel, as well as ensure interoperability of Polish railway infrastructure.
Funding
- Overall cost: PLN 470 million,
- EU funding: PLN 357 million,
- Implementation duration: 2023–2025.

On June 19, 2026, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy in Warsaw will host an expert workshop entitled. “Cooperation between the public and private sectors in dual-use projects and building resilience in the railroad system.” The event is organised jointly with the ministry and the ProKolej Foundation.

Bottleneck Relief and Safer Regional Route – PLN 750 Million for S10 Construction

Update of the regulations for the call for projects for the Intermodal Transport competition under the FEnIKS program
A change has been introduced in the Project Selection Regulations for FENX.05.06-IP.02-001/24 (competitive call for Priority FENX.05 Support for the Transport Sector from the ERDF, Measure FENX.05.06 Intermodal Transport) to remove information on the division of allocations between individual regions (i.e. more developed, transitional, less developed). Częstochowa Central Railway Station with EU funding. CEUTP has signed an agreement with PKP S.A.
The Center for EU Transport Projects has signed an agreement to subsidize the reconstruction of the Częstochowa Główna railway station. The investment will receive nearly PLN 100 million from European Funds.
