Another webinar on equal opportunities in public transport and the European Funds is over
European Funds, the European Accessibility Act, accessible bus stops and buses – these were the topics that the 13th meeting of the AccessibilityLAB series set the scene for a conversation about real change and barriers in the lives of millions of people.
Public transport in Poland is undergoing a quiet revolution.
The European Funds have opened up unprecedented opportunities to make transport more accessible so that it can actually be used by anyone. However, as practised, accessibility must be the foundation of projects, not its add-on.
The European Accessibility Act (EAA): new standards, new realities
The legal changes, which came into force on 28 June 2025, end an era of discretionary accessibility. From now on, this is a legal requirement that applies to everyone. The question is no longer “can we afford it?”, but “how best to implement it?”
People in the spotlight
The most successful accessibility projects are created when passengers – without exception – are co-creators and not just recipients. Examples from Kraków, Gdynia or Lublin show the great value of public consultation.
Poland can lead the way
With growing awareness, availability of funding and expertise, we have the opportunity to become one of the leaders in accessible transport in Europe. The condition is to act consistently.
190 participants – the common voice of the transport sector
The webinar was attended by representatives of administrations, NGOs, transport operators and institutions managing EU funds. Thank you for your contribution to the discussion!
