Reconstruction of the Jagiellonów Roundabout – an EU investment that will change the center of Bydgoszcz

The Jagiellonów Roundabout – one of the most important intersections in Bydgoszcz – will undergo a comprehensive reconstruction that will significantly improve the comfort and safety of movement in the heart of the city. For the implementation of this investment, we have provided PLN 27.6 million from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment.

This is the largest modernization of such a key intersection in years, and its effects will be felt by all users: pedestrians, public transport passengers, cyclists and drivers. The Jagiellonów Roundabout had been a spatial barrier for years – especially for people with disabilities or parents with strollers. The underpass, in particular, was difficult, and transferring between streetcars and buses required effort and took time. The total cost of the project was estimated by the city at nearly PLN 40 million.

Key benefits for residents:

  • Easier transfers, shorter walks to stops,
  • Full accessibility for people with limited mobility,
  • New bike lanes and facilities for cyclists,
  • bezpieczniejszy i bardziej uporządkowany ruch samochodowy,
  • A more attractive, modern public space,
  • An investment supported by substantial funding from the European Funds.

How will this redevelopment change the city?

After the modernization, the Jagiellonów Roundabout will become:

  • A friendly, aesthetically pleasing and functional interchange center,
  • a barrier-free space in which everyone – pedestrian, passenger, cyclist or driver – moves easily and intuitively,
  • One of the most modern and accessible transportation hubs in the region.

This is an investment that will raise the quality of life of Bydgoszcz residents and increase the attractiveness of the entire downtown area.

European funds for urban mobility

The investment is being made with the support of the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021-2027 (FEnIKS) under the FENX.03 Urban Transport priority. To date, we have provided more than PLN 7.8 billion for the development of urban mobility, which is 83.6% of the available allocation (as of 20.03.2026).
