Częstochowa Central Railway Station with EU funding. CEUTP has signed an agreement with PKP S.A.
On March 2, 2026, the Center for EU Transport Projects entered into an agreement with PKP S.A. for co-financing of the project “Reconstruction of Częstochowa Central Station” under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021-2027 program. The total value of the investment is PLN 145.6 million. PKP S.A. has obtained financing in the amount of PLN 115.5 million – 85% is made up of EU funds (PLN 98.2 million), and 15% comes from national co-financing.
The project involves the comprehensive reconstruction of one of the largest train stations in the region – a facility with the longest platform in Poland (565 meters). The investment will be carried out in several stages. First, the eastern part of the building will be demolished, and in its place a new pavilion will be built on the side of Pilsudski Street, along with a rebuilt passage over the tracks.
The second phase will include the demolition of the western building and the construction of an interchange center for commuter and long-distance buses. The whole project will be tied together by a central walkway connecting the two parts of the station.
The new facility will be fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, the visually impaired, the hearing impaired and those with limited mobility. Separation of pedestrian and vehicular traffic and a modern monitoring system are also planned.
Implementation of the project is in line with the FEnIKS program objective: to strengthen the role of railroads in the TEN-T trans-European transport network and to develop infrastructure connecting Poland’s major cities with important industrial and economic centers. The investment is scheduled for completion in 2027.
