More Road Projects Funded by European Funds

Two more projects by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways have received funding from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment Program 2021–2027. These projects involve the construction of the Morawica and Wola Morawicka bypass along National Road DK73, as well as sections of the S19 expressway between Międzyrzec Podlaski and Lubartów Północ. The total amount of EU funding for these projects is 691 mln zł.

Funding for the S19 expressway between Międzyrzec Podlaski and Lubartów Północ amounts to 606 mln zł. The project involves the construction of over 64 km of road, consisting of four construction sections. As part of the project, seven interchanges, access roads, engineering structures, four traveler service areas, sidewalks, bike paths, and a road drainage system will be built, among other things. The total value of the project exceeds 2.4 billion PLN.

Support from European Funds was also provided for the construction of the Morawica and Wola Morawicka bypass along National Road 73. EU funding for this project amounts to 85 mln zł, with a planned total cost of nearly 280 mln zł. As part of the project, nearly 4.4 km of a dual-carriageway national road will be built, along with a roundabout, engineering structures, access roads, and stormwater drainage.

Both projects will help improve safety, reduce travel time, and increase transportation accessibility in the regions. The S19 sections are part of the international corridor Via Carpatia, which is important for the transportation connectivity of Eastern Poland and for north-south connections, while the Morawica and Wola Morawicka bypass will improve traffic flow toward Kielce and relieve pressure on the local road network.

To date, 23 grant agreements for GDDKiA projects have been signed under the FEnIKS Program, and the total amount of EU funding from this program has exceeded 13.5 billion PLN. Ultimately, the support will cover 30 road projects with a total grant value of approximately 18 billion PLN.
