Road safety still at the centre of our attention – another mission within the Azerbaijani project behind us
On 13-14 July 2023, another mission took place as part of the twinning project entitled ‘Increasing Road Safety in Azerbaijan’. The main objective of this mission was to select given road sections in Azerbaijan where road safety inspections will be carried out, and to identify the types of these inspections as part of the ongoing project.
During the meetings, representatives of the Centre for EU Transport Projects and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways from Poland presented information on the different types of safety checks carried out on roads.
Experts from Poland and Lithuania presented detailed information on the practical approach to the introduction of road infrastructure safety management procedures set out in Directive 96/2008/EC. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, the Baku Transport Agency and the Azerbaijan State Motor Roads Agency.
During the presentations, the experts discussed the methodology for carrying out road safety inspections, providing information on the necessary tools, requirements and procedures involved in carrying out these inspections.
