Second mission to strengthen human resources in the road sector in Azerbaijan
On December 12-15.2023, we conducted a second mission focusing on further strengthening human resources related to the road safety sector in Azerbaijan as part of the “Increasing Road Safety in Azerbaijan” project.
The mission included a series of interviews based on a carefully prepared questionnaire on the competencies of departments/units and employees responsible for implementing road safety measures. The questionnaire was developed by experienced experts from Poland and covered a wide range of topics. This provided precise information on the competencies required in this field in Azerbaijan.
Our questionnaire allowed the experts to identify areas where there is a need for further competence development, and also identified the best possible measures that can be taken to increase the skills of workers in this sector. These measures are crucial for raising road safety standards in the country.
Among the interviewees were selected representatives of departments and other units of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency. All participants of the study showed great commitment and their responses provided comprehensive and valuable information as they are persons who work directly on the implementation of road safety measures on a daily basis.
The findings of this mission provide valuable input for further planning and development of road safety initiatives in Azerbaijan. Our goal is not only to increase competence, but also to improve the effectiveness of measures to protect the lives and health of road users.
