Polish-Swedish Exchange of Experience under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF)
Representatives of the Centre for EU Transport Projects (CUPT) took part in a Polish-Swedish meeting dedicated to the exchange of experience in implementing the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The event took place on 30 September in Warsaw and was hosted by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy (MFiPR).
The meeting brought together experts from institutions responsible for managing and coordinating transport investments in Poland and Sweden. The Polish delegation included representatives of CUPT and PKP Polish Railway Lines S.A., while the Swedish side was represented by officials from the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure and the Swedish Transport Administration.
Experts from CUPT’s Department of Transport Analysis – Dariusz Giziński and Karolina Ptaszyńska – presented the role of the institution within Poland’s system for implementing EU funds and shared CUPT’s experience in supporting transport investments co-financed under the CEF. They also emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the potential for developing joint Polish-Swedish initiatives, for example in the areas of environmental protection and cost-benefit analysis of transport projects.
PKP Polish Railway Lines S.A., the largest beneficiary of CEF funding in Poland’s railway sector, also shared their perspective. Their representatives discussed practical experiences and challenges related to the implementation of large infrastructure projects co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility.
The meeting also included presentations on the CEF project implementation system in Sweden, the division of responsibilities between the managing authority (MFiPR) and the intermediate body (CUPT), as well as examples of joint Polish-Swedish projects already completed with CEF support.
Participants agreed that such meetings are an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices, helping both countries to make even more effective use of EU funds in the future. The discussions confirmed the mutual willingness to continue cooperation and to further develop dialogue in the field of sustainable transport.
