Better Planning for Better Georgia – twinning project based on the cooperation of polish-georgian administration came to an end
This almost 2-year project started with an analysis of the legislative process in the field of land development and infrastructure projects in Georgia. In the course of close cooperation between Polish and Georgian public institutions, recommendations were prepared for the Georgian government to support and improve planning and implementation of transport investments. Many of the project’s products were dedicated to selected regions, including spatial development plans and project portfolios. An important element of the project was also the development of the most optimal guidelines for building relations with future investors and obtaining additional sources of funding for projects in the transport sector in Georgia.
Among the beneficiaries on the Georgian side of the completed project were the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, as well as other Georgian administrative institutions involved in the implementation of regional and spatial policy, including primarily two local governments, Gori and Zugdidi. Only well-planned and well-prepared projects, in line with national and regional strategies, can be the flywheel of the country’s economic development – said Deputy Minister for Investment and Development, Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak during the conference.
The Ministry of Investment and Development has for many years supported Georgian authorities in carrying out effective socio-economic and political reforms. Polish experience has repeatedly been a source of inspiration and good practice, and many Polish solutions have already been applied in Georgian realities.
The project involved CUPT experts specialising, among other things, in the preparation and implementation of transport projects, environmental protection, cost-benefit analyses or public consultations.
