A twinning project in Azerbaijan is gaining momentum
On 30 May – 2 June in Baku (Azerbaijan) another mission took place as part of the twinning project “Increasing Road Safety in Azerbaijan”, this time under Action 1.2.1 entitled “Report on detailed mapping and functional analysis of transport sector institutions in order to determine the goals, missions, functions, information flows, redundant obligations and gaps as part of the implementation of the National Road Safety Program for 2019-2023”.
The project leader representing the Centre for EU Transport Projects and the Junior Partner Project Leader representing the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration held meetings with representatives of Azerbaijani institutions in order to thoroughly analyse the current situation of the road safety framework in Azerbaijan.
The project team held discussions with interested Azerbaijani institutions, such as the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and the Land Transport Agency of Azerbaijan.
During the meetings, the goals and missions of these institutions were discussed, functions and responsibilities were analysed, road safety-related information flows were assessed and possible deficiencies or gaps in the existing institutional framework were identified.
The result of this activity will be a comprehensive report on the detailed mapping and functional analysis of transport sector institutions, which will provide valuable information on the institutional framework of road transport safety in Azerbaijan and include recommendations for improving the implementation of the State Road Safety Program 2019-2023.
