The CEUTP hosted a study visit by a delegation from Romania

The study visit was organized at the request of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for the European Neighbourhood Policy And Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR). Representatives of the CEUTP presented the guests from Romania with the conclusions and experiences related to the finalization of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (OPI&E) 2007-2013.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation visited the CEUTP headquarters, where its members had an opportunity to get acquainted with the structure, principles of financing and implementation of projects under the OPI&E 2007-2013, as well as under the OPI&E 2014-2020. The following days were spent in the places where flagship railway, maritime, road and airport projects were carried out. The Romanian partners visited i.a. the Pendolino service centre and took a trip on a train of this type to the Tri-City. In Gdańsk, the guests met with the representatives of Polskie Linie Kolejowe S. A. (Polish Railway Lines). The discussions involved i.a. the challenges related to the implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System and its migration to the second level. The Maritime Office in Gdynia presented investments related to modernization of the entrance to the internal port in Gdańsk, reconstruction of waterways and construction of the National Maritime Safety System. The guests could also see the effects of a number of investments implemented by the Port of Gdynia and acquaint themselves with the terminal construction project implemented by DCT Gdansk (Polish Container Terminal).

As part of the presentation of road projects, the Romanian delegation met with the staff of the Traffic Management and Control Centre in Gdynia, where the current construction and application of the city traffic management system was described. The return road to Warsaw is planned in such a way that the guests got acquainted with the details of the construction of the A-1 motorway on the Toruń-Stryków section. The Romanian delegation was also hosted by the Chopin Airport, where the results of investments and modernization of one of the terminals were presented, as well as the purchased equipment (fire trucks, snow clearing equipment, photovoltaic installations). A lot of experience was exchanged during the five-day visit, and the presentation of each investment was accompanied by a discussion and questions. The contacts established will allow further exchange of knowledge and practical solutions during the implementation of investments financed from European funds.
