International TAIEX Environmental Workshops in Estonia
From October 25-27, an international workshop titled “Workshop on Best practice in applying Art 6(3) of Habitats Directive: practical solutions to carry out Natura impact assessments effectively” was held in Estonia. The workshop focused on good practices for implementing Article 6.3 of the Habitats Directive, particularly regarding the effective assessment of the impact on Natura 2000 areas. Among the presenters was Ewa Paderewska, a representative from the Center for EU Transport Projects (CUPT), who shared her knowledge and experience with experts from Greece, Austria, Sweden, and Estonia. Number of insights given by Ewa focused on presenting the Polish EIA and Nature 2000 assessment procedure as a part of the investment process, and examples of measures to mitigate and compensate for the negative environmental impact of transport projects.
