PKP, with the support from the European Funds, sets out towards stations in Łódzkie Voivodship
On 20 October this year, we signed a co-financing agreement with PKP S.A. to fund a project titled “Budowa i przebudowa wybranych dworców kolejowych w województwie łódzkim (Gałkówek, Koluszki, Skierniewice)” (Construction and renovation of selected railway stations in Łódzkie Voivodships (Gałkówek, Koluszki, Skierniewice)). The support provided amounted to almost PLN 44.5 million, and the funds come from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 programme under the “FENX.04.02 Kolej w TEN-T” (Railway transport in TEN-T) action.Total cost of the project is nearly PLN 64 million.
The EU funding will help cover the majority of costs related to the – already completed – construction of a new railway station in Koluszki, as well as the modernisation of a historic building in Gałkówek. It will also cover the costs of a nearly-finished reconstruction of a building in Skierniewice.
The new railway station in Koluszki was opened at the beginning of 2025. The building can be distinguished by its simple shape, elevation made of decorative concrete and ceramic brick, as well as large windows, which give the construction a lighter feeling. On the inside, it features a modern waiting room, utility rooms and a commercial space. A clock tower was set right next to the building, as well as a roofed crossing, which the passengers can use to get from the station to the underground passageway leading to the platforms. Station building, together with the surrounding area, was adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and limited mobility. Architectural barriers were eliminated, and several improvements were introduced, e.g., tactile paving and plates with text in Braille. By utilising numerous technological solutions, as well as intelligent building management systems, the station in Koluszki has become a low-emission, energy-saving facility
Earlier – i.e., at the end of 2024 – the modernisation of a historic station building at Gałkówek station was finished. The works included a comprehensive renovation of the elevation, as well as complete refurbishment of the interiors, in order to adapt them to the needs of passengers. Several solutions were introduced to increase accessibility, e.g., a ramp, tactile paving for visually impaired, plates with text in Braille, as well as contrasting colours. The station was also equipped with energy-saving LED lighting, an intelligent building management system, as well as modern safety systems.
The modernisation of a railway station in Skierniewice is also nearing completion. The works included, e.g., replacement of installations, as well as adaptation of the building to meet the needs of people with disabilities. The station handles both long-distance trains, mainly travelling on the route between Łódź and Warsaw, and numerous regional connections.
The implementation of the project will contribute to the improvement of passengers’ comfort and safety, increase of railway transport accessibility, as well as reduction of emissions from railway infrastructure in Łódzkie Voivodship.

Expert Workshop on Dual-Use Projects and Transportation Resilience, Featuring CEUTP
On June 19, 2026, an expert workshop titled “Dual-Use Projects and Building the Resilience of the Railway System with the Support of European Funds” was held in Warsaw. Among those participating in the event was Sylwia Cieślak-Wilk, deputy director of CEUTP, who presented an institutional perspective on the role of dual-use infrastructure in the EU’s current and future financial frameworks.

Nearly 424.6 mln zł from European Funds for the modernization of the Ujście Nysy barrage
The Center for EU Transport Projects has signed two agreements with the State Water Management Authority “Wody Polskie” regarding the modernization of the Ujście Nysy weir on the Oder River. The projects, with a total value of over 538 mln zł, will receive nearly 424.6 mln zł in funding from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment 2021–2027 program.

Via Carpatia Under Construction – CEUTP Experts Visit the Construction Site of the S19 Section North of Lublin
Experts from the CEUTP Department of Environmental Protection visited the construction site of a section of the S19 expressway north of Lublin, which is part of the international Via Carpatia route. The site visit provided an opportunity to assess the progress of the work and the challenges associated with the implementation of one of the most important road projects in eastern Poland.
