Poland’s Experience with EU Funds Provides Support for Albania. Study Visit to CEUTP
On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, CEUTP hosted a delegation from Albania as part of the project titled “Support for Road Sector Reform and Road Safety Strategy.” The meeting focused on sharing knowledge about the implementation of EU funds and planning further bilateral cooperation in the transportation sector.
During the meeting, the role that CEUTP plays in the implementation of projects co-financed by European Funds was presented. The scale of changes in the Polish transportation network since 2004 was presented, including the construction of expressways, the modernization of rail lines, investments in passenger rolling stock, and the development of urban and intermodal transportation. The topic of CEUTP’s new role in connection with the liberalization of the passenger rail market was also discussed.
During the discussion, the main responsibilities of beneficiaries and investors were presented, along with best practices related to project implementation and issues requiring special attention during the preparation and implementation phases of investments. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and answer participants’ questions. Our experts presented and discussed the most important requirements arising from current regulations regarding environmental protection and ensuring the accessibility of infrastructure for people with disabilities or limited mobility.
The Albanian delegation included, among others, representatives from the European Commission Delegation in Tirana, the Albanian Road Administration, and the Ministry of Transport and Energy. CEUTP was represented by experts from the Department of Transportation Analysis.
In the section devoted to international cooperation, CEUTP invited further exchange of expert knowledge within the framework of other initiatives, particularly on such challenging issues as environmental protection and infrastructure accessibility.
The “Support for Road Sector Reform and Road Safety Strategy” project is funded by the European Commission.
