Experts from Poland and Lithuania representing the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Road Transport Inspection and the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration, in close cooperation with Azeri institutions, joined their efforts to analyse the current state of the road accident prevention mechanism in Azerbaijan. During this mission, particular attention was paid to the general characteristics of road transport, such as the
- road network,
- vehicles,
- infrastructure,
- rescue and post-accident care,
as well as the tools and methods of the mechanisms used to prevent road accidents.
The institutions involved on the side of the Beneficiary’s country were the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency under the MDDT and the Azerbaijan Motor Roads Agency, shared their knowledge and experience in this area. Their know-how is crucial in conducting an objective diagnosis of the current situation in Azerbaijan and in developing recommendations regarding possible changes in the legal, institutional, legal and infrastructural environment in this field.
