Workshop on Austrian experience on Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Funding

The workshop aimed to provide CEUTP with a deeper understanding of how Austria transport investments and maintenance needs, especially in the context of limited or no access to EU cohesion funds. Discussions focused on funding models, institutional frameworks, and innovative approaches used in other regions.

Austrian transport experts, including Mr. Ulrich Flamm, Mr. Roland Schuster, and Mr. Bernhard Bauer from the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, shared their experiences and expertise. The workshop delved into topics such as infrastructure planning, financing mechanisms for road and rail infrastructure including the approach to Pubic Service Contracts in the railway sector, and tolling schemes in the road sector, as well as distribution of roles and responsibilities among individual federal and regional authorities and state owned companies.

The event fostered a productive exchange of knowledge and delivered a number of great inspirations, helping CEUTP identify key areas for its own transformation and adapt to future challenges in transport infrastructure funding in Poland.
