Get ready for the 3rd Forum Centre and 3rd Conference from the Transport Research Observatory. The event is going to occur on 21-22 June 2023. You are welcome to join in.
You are invited to take part in the 3rd Forum Centrum and 3rd Conference of the Transport Observatory Research, scheduled for 21-22 June 2023. This time we will focus on the topic of transport exclusion in Poland and the opportunities offered by European Funds to reduce it.
The aspects of transport exclusion
We will have the opportunity to hear presentations and take part in discussions on various aspects of transport exclusion during the first day of the Forum. Representatives from the European Commission and the organiser of the event – CEUTP – will be at the helm of the conference’s opening.
In the first session, we will be examining different dimensions of transport exclusion, such as inadequate stops or transport exclusion within the city. We will be privileged to hear from esteemed professionals such as:
- Iwona Budych – President of the Transport Exclusion Association,
- Annika Lundkvist – Co-founder and Director of the Urban Transit Lab,
- Paweł Zmuda-Trzebiatowski, PhD – Poznan University of Technology.
The session on solutions to address transportation exclusion will recommence following the break. We will have the opportunity to witness a dialogue between Paweł Engel, Deputy Director of the Transport Analysis Department at the Centre, and Damian Stawikowski, President of Lower Silesian Railways. Subsequently, we will engage in an interactive World Café, where we will explore methods to bridge the transportation gap through two focused discussion tables.
Facilitating the discussions will be Paweł Engel and Bartosz Mazur, PhD, who will lead conversations on the necessity of cars and the challenges associated with collective bus transportation.
Following the conclusion of the World Café in session three, we will broaden our perspective and seek inspiration from various regions of the world to observe their approaches in addressing similar global issues. An announcer will moderate three concise thematic presentations during this segment.
The role of the EU Funds in combating transport exclusion
During the conference’s second day, we will devote our attention to examining the significance of EU funds in combating transportation exclusion. In session four, we will be presented with informative talks concerning the plans and obstacles associated with the new funding perspective. Furthermore, we will actively participate in a panel discussion focusing on the influence of EU funds on public transportation in small towns. The latter will be attended by the representatives of:
- Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodship,
- Centre for EU Transport Projects,
- Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis
- Oława Commune and County Transport.
This event presents a distinctive occasion to enhance our understanding of the financial prospects provided by the European Union in fostering transportation development and addressing exclusion.
Over the course of the two-day conference, experts from both Poland and international backgrounds will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices, fostering a valuable learning environment.
