“TAIEX Champion” distinction – a joint success for CEUTP

During the “Institution Building Days 2026” conference, held in Brussels on April 22-23, 2026, Poland was honored by the European Commission with the prestigious “TAIEX Champion” award, given with special attention to the transport and environmental sectors. The event had a unique character – it coincided with the 30th anniversary of the TAIEX and Twinning instruments, the pillars of European administrative cooperation.

The award was received from the hands of Marta Kos, Commissioner for Enlargement, by Ambassador Michal Mazur, Poland’s representative on the Political and Security Committee. Although the statuette did not include the names of institutions or experts, the award confirms the important role that Polish institutions – including the Center for EU Transport Projects – play in the European system of knowledge transfer and good practices.

CEUTP in TAIEX international cooperation

For years, CEUTP has actively participated in the implementation of TAIEX and TAIEX REGIO Peer to Peer activities, sharing experience in areas such as:

– Transport infrastructure planning and financing
– Organization and liberalization of the rail market
– PSC contracts
– Road safety, ITS and infrastructure management
– Strengthening the institutional capacity of public administration.

CEUTP experts carry out expert missions, workshops and study visits to both EU member states and partner countries, including Moldova, Georgia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Italy and Austria, consistently building recognition of Polish know-how in the transport sector.

In parallel, CEUTP is using the TAIEX instrument as a participant – learning from European partners and transferring proven solutions to the country, which directly supports the implementation of strategic transport policies in Poland.

Poland at the forefront of TAIEX activity

The data presented by the European Commission confirms that Poland is one of the most active EU member states in the TAIEX program, both in terms of the number of activities implemented and newly registered experts.
The growing involvement of national institutions – including CEUTP – and the development of internal support mechanisms for experts were clearly recognised by the European Commission and reflected in the award.

Appreciated work that often remains in the background

The “TAIEX Champion” award is proof that the consistent, substantive work of public administration has a real impact, even if its effects are not always immediately visible. This is the result of the cooperation of experts, coordinators and support teams, who – often outside their daily duties – engage in international activities, building the credibility and position of Poland in Europe and beyond.

Congratulations

This distinction would not have been possible without:

– the long-standing support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the TAIEX National Focal Point
– cooperation with the European Commission, in particular DG ENEST and DG REGIO
– involvement of institutional partners in the EU and partner countries.

We would like to thank all CEUTP employees who, with their knowledge, professionalism and openness to international cooperation, contribute to the development of modern transportation and the strengthening of public administration – in Poland and abroad.
