PKP Intercity is consistently modernizing its rolling stock thanks to funds from the NRP. On April 2 this year, the carrier presented the first of 50 COMBO passenger cars that will soon be put into service. This is an important stage of the CEUTP-supported project.

We have transferred over PLN 114.6 million from the National Plan for Reconstruction and Increasing Resilience for the revitalisation of sections of railroad lines 319, 326 and 341. In total, work will be carried out on more than 33 kilometres. The investment is part of a larger project to modernise railroads in Lower Silesia.

The year 2025 is a year of intensive development of transport projects subsidized by European Funds. We summarize our progress – in calls for proposals, signed contracts and use of available funds. Check out the most important numbers that show how much we have achieved!

On 15 December 2023, Poland launched the largest investment project in its history – the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). That moment initiated a change, which can be observed in every region – a change for transport, residents, economy and safety.

The Centre for EU Transport Projects has signed two agreements on support for projects implemented by Śląskie Voivodship and Koleje Śląskie (Silesian Railways). They concern 10 vehicles in total – both agreements are for the purchase of 5 electric multiple units compliant with the newest technical standards.

Support from the European Funds was granted to: Koleje Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian Railways), Koleje Śląskie (Silesian Railways) and Śląskie Voivodship. The amount of funding exceeds PLN 870 million, which will cover the purchase costs of modern electric trains for regional transport.

We granted PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście Sp. z o.o. over PLN 76.8 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The funds will be used for the development of railway line no. 250, which the residents of Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia use daily.

Thanks to the support from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), as well as the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment, Poland and Polish railway will receive over PLN 1 billion, which will improve safety, travel comfort, as well as development of low-emission transport.

The results of the “Pasażerski Tabor Kolejowy (Tabor 2.0)” (Passenger Rolling Stock (Rolling Stock 2.0)) competition are here! 5 out of 5 submitted projects received a positive assessment. Total value of the support will amount to PLN 870,045,400.00, and it will be used to purchase 30 units of passenger rolling stock.

Once again, we granted funding from the European Funds for the development of Polish railway and the revitalisation of the so-called Coal Trunk-Line. The scope of works will cover two sections: Zduńska Wola Karsznice – Poddębice and Karczyn – Inowrocław Rąbinek.

From the beginning of July 2025, further projects of strategic significance in the areas of sustainable transport, road infrastructure and urban mobility received co-financing from the European Funds.

By mid-June 2025, the Centre for EU Transport Projects had signed as many as 147 agreements under the NRP, with the total value of support awarded exceeding PLN 20 billion.
