European funds, appropriate legal regulations and involvement of local communities are among the key elements in creating conditions for the development of sustainable urban mobility, the participants of the 4th SUMP Conference pointed out. Among the speakers was Joanna Swiderska of CEUTP.

The Jagiellonów Roundabout – one of the most important intersections in Bydgoszcz – will undergo a comprehensive reconstruction that will significantly improve the comfort and safety of movement in the heart of the city. For the implementation of this investment, we have provided PLN 27.6 million from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment.

The city of Bytom enters a new era of mobility, thanks to the support of the European Funds and the Centre for EU Transport Projects. An agreement for funding for the project titled “Mobilna Metropolia – Budowa Centrów Przesiadkowych na terenie gminy Bytom” (Mobile Metropolis – Construction of Transfer Centres within the Bytom Municipality) was signed in Warsaw.

On December 4, 2025, a study visit entitled “Funds on the move – how European Funds, local governments and the community are shaping urban mobility” was held in Poznań, which we organized in cooperation with Poznań City Hall and MPK Poznań.

The project titled “Przebudowa torowiska tramwajowego do Kucelina w Częstochowie” (Reconstruction of a tramway track to Kucelin in Częstochowa) received funding from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 programme.

We have granted MPK (public transport operator) in Poznań PLN 175 million from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 programme for purchase of 30 modern trams.

The project titled “Modernizacja i rozwój infrastruktury tramwajowej w Górnośląsko–Zagłębiowskiej Metropolii” (Modernisation and development of tram infrastructure in the Upper Silesian-Dąbrowa Basin Metropolis) received over PLN 735 million in funding from the EU within the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS) programme.

Thanks to the support from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), as well as the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment, Poland and Polish railway will receive over PLN 1 billion, which will improve safety, travel comfort, as well as development of low-emission transport.

We know the results of the call for proposals for the project to be supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the purchase of new tramway rolling stock.

Two billion and 25 million zloty will be received by the City of Warsaw from the European Funds for the development of public transport. The funds will be used for the construction of the last section of the second underground line and the construction of a tramway route to Wilanów.
